Sometimes at ABC we’re donated books that can’t be used in one of our school library projects. We don’t like anything to go to waste and a simple conversation between Eltham Acorn Estate Agent manager Oliver Henness and Kate, the owner of his favourite local coffee shop Taste meant that we had a brilliant solution for all the colouring and activity books we have been given.
Kate offered ABC some space in the shop to create a fully ABC branded bookcase, with enough books to keep little ones occupied while their parents enjoy their coffee, pastries or a delicious homemade meal. There is also a box for the community to drop off their pre-loved books which will then be used in another ABC project.
The bookshelves give the business an easy way to support a local charity they love, and give families a great reason to visit them. And as a result of this project, we’ve already been approached by another school looking to get involved with us.
If you're a local business or organisation and feel you could either offer to be a book drop site or could benefit from a collection of books donated by ABC, please get in touch!
