Turnham Academy is nestled in the heart of Brockley, and has long since served the children of the community. Its most famous former pupil, football legend Ian Wright has said that the most influential time of his life was provided by the education and the teachers he got at this school.
The Head Teacher Frank Harrowell was determined to provide his pupils with a library - something that had been on his list of things he wanted to achieve at the school. When ABC first visited Turnham Academy, we had no idea that this was the start of a unique library build that would capture the energies and imaginations of a whole community.
The school fundraised for the library, the children chose a Fairground theme, the premises team prepared the room, Olivbells designed a bespoke reading nook, and ABC pulled it all together to build a library the children had only dreamed of.
